Greetings from Currie Kirk - 21st February 2025

A message from our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Anne Logan:

The other morning, I went out for a walk just to clear my head. If I am honest, my mood was pretty grim having just read the morning’s news. In the middle of a housing estate, someone has planted this lovely crocus path. It lifted my mood as I thought about the generosity of those who planted it and the wonder of God’s creation. This is a difficult time for our world and the news seems very bleak, but all around us are the reminders that our hope is not dependent on flawed world leaders, our hope is dependent on the God of love and his promises. This week, let’s reflect on Psalm 65

By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
 and of the farthest seas.
 By your strength you established the mountains;
 you are girded with might.
 You silence the roaring of the seas,
 the roaring of their waves,
 the tumult of the peoples.
 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.

(Psalm 65; 5 – 8)

Blessings! Anne

Readings and Prayers in Church

The Kirk Session would like to encourage more people to take part in our services, by reading the Bible lessons and by leading prayers, especially prayers for others. If you feel this is something you might be able to help with, look for the Readers notice which will go up in the Link building and sign up for a date that you can manage. If your interest is in writing prayers, then come along to one of two workshops on ‘Writing Prayers for Public Worship’ which will be held in the Lounge of the GCH on Tuesday 25th February at 7pm and on Friday 28th at 10am. These workshops will last between 30 minutes and an hour.
