A message from our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Anne Logan:
It’s that time of year again – time to turn the clocks back. Whilst some of us will delight in an extra hour in bed; others will find that their natural body rhythms find it hard to adjust to new wakening times. For all of us, turning the clocks back makes us more aware of the long hours of darkness and the shorter days.
Sometimes, we use the idea of turning the clock back to mean that we want to go back in time. Perhaps we want to turn the clock back to a time before we did or said something which we now regret. Perhaps we want to turn the clock back and make a different decision about something which we feel has not worked out well.
Sometimes, even more seductive, particularly in churches, is the idea that we want to turn the clock back to a time when life was better, easier. Truthfully, I don’t think being the Church, the body of Christ has ever been easy. Past generations faced their challenges just as we do today. The hymn which mentions that ‘the reapers were few’ was written back in 1875.
This year, as we turn the clocks back, let’s take time to meditate on God’s words through the prophet Isaiah.
“Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? (Isaiah 43; 18 – 19)
Blessings! Anne

Messy Church Needs You!
We will be holding an Advent Messy Church on the afternoon of Friday 13th December at the Gibson Craig Halls, and we are looking for volunteers to help with the event. There are many ways you could be involved, advertising the event, helping with registration, preparing snacks in the kitchen, helping with one of the craft tables or just taking part in the fun of the afternoon. A great way to get into the spirit of advent!
As we will be working with children all volunteers will have to be registered with the Church of Scotland PVG scheme, but don’t worry we still have time to register anyone who would like to take part and is not currently covered by the scheme.
Please get in touch with Susan or make contact through the church office if you would like to be involved.
We hope to hold a planning meeting, getting the whole team together on Thursday 14th November.
Come along and join in the fun, you won’t regret it!
