A message from our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Anne Logan:
Now that our youngest grandchild has started school, Mike and I find ourselves with some free time between the school drop-off and the school pick-up on a Wednesday. We’ve taken to going for walks through in an area we don’t know well. The grandchildren always want to know – ‘Where did you go today? What did you see?’ Knowing the questions are coming, it makes us pay attention to all that is around us when we walk.
September and October are celebrated in the Western Churches as the season of Creation. One of the suggestions for marking that season is that we should take time to give thanks for the goodness of creation. We can do this when we walk, even if we are only going to the shops. We can also do it sitting in an armchair using our imaginations and memories. The themes are drawn from Genesis Chapter 1
1. The Goodness of Light
2. The Goodness of the Planets and Starts
3. The Goodness of the Sky
4. The Goodness of the Earth and Sea
5. The Goodness of Plants
6. The Goodness of Water and water creatures
7. The Goodness of Land creatures
8. The Goodness of Humans
9. The Goodness of Everything.
I wish you all the blessings of this Creationtide!
Anne
