Weekly Letter 27 - 5th April 2024

Greetings from Currie Kirk - 5th April 2024

A message from our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Anne Logan:

On Easter Monday, Mike and I, went to visit Culzean Castle gardens. The trip was to satisfy my desire to do something relatively undemanding as I processed the busyness and the mixed emotions of Holy Week and Easter Day.

I often wonder how those first friends of Jesus felt on Easter Monday, how did they come to terms with all that they had seen, heard and felt during that life-changing week. We know that at first, they hid themselves away and we can understand that. We also know that Jesus didn’t allow them to remain shut away. Jesus invited them to continue the story – just as he invites us to continue his story today. Easter, for the Church, is not a day or even just a weekend, it is an entire season of fifty days. Fifty days of joy that God, in Jesus, has defeated death. Fifty days of thanksgiving that death, although painful, is not the end. Fifty days of celebrating the triumph of love.

In 1 Peter chapter 1 v 3 we are reminded, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.’ In what ways can we, as Currie Kirk, be a living hope in our world.

Blessings! Anne
