A message from our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Anne Logan:
There’s something exciting about a New Year, isn’t there? New calendars on the wall; new diaries on the desk (for those who still use paper!!); new possibilities; new hopes. Of course, it’s also a time when many people make ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ and a time when many people break those same resolutions within days. For many of the years of my ministry, I have shamelessly borrowed from the Methodist tradition, and invited people to reflect, as the Christmas Season ends and the New Year begins, on the words of the Methodist Covenant Prayer -
I am no longer my own but yours. Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will; put me to doing, put me to suffering; let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you, exalted for you, or brought low for you; let me be full, let me be empty, let me have all things, let me have nothing: I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to your pleasure and disposal. And now, glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. So be it. And the covenant now made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.'
The Methodist Covenant Prayer
Wishing each one of you grace and peace in 2024
Anne
