A message from our Interim Moderator Rev Dr Anne Logan:
On our recent river cruise through Germany, Austria and Hungary, one of the prominent features in every Church we visited, whether a grand Cathedral or Basilica or simple village worship space, was the Crib scene. They were all different, some were simply the Holy family with shepherds, some included the Wise Men, some were a lot more complicated with a huge cast from the Advent stories. Our Church of Scotland Mission partners currently home from Israel Palestine have shared with us the crib scene from Christmas Church Bethlehem, which places Christ amongst rubble. All Christmas celebrations in the area have been cancelled this year, but the Bethlehem church has shared the image to remind us all, and especially to remind the Palestinian Christians, that Christ is with them, God has not and will not abandon them. This year as we sing our carols, the little town of Bethlehem is far from still, but the everlasting light still shines through the darkness and hopes and fears of all the years are still centred on the one who was born there, two thousand years ago.
Wishing you all a Blessed Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Anne
