Weddings

Getting married in the Kirk celebrates that we do not live our lives and our relationships in isolation, but with God.  The Bible tells us that "a chord of three strands is not quickly broken" [Ecclesiastes 4:12] so, as you and your partner are married, we believe that God is that third strand, binding and blessing your relationship.  While Currie Kirk is a beautiful location for your marriage, we trust that the greater significance would be knowing God's presence with you as you set out in married life.

Can we get married in Currie Kirk?

You do not need to be a member of the church to get married in the Kirk.  The Minister would meet you to discuss your needs.  If you are a member of another church it is a courtesy to ask your Minister before getting married elsewhere.

How much does it cost?

WEDDING FEES 2023

Donation to Church   £500.00

Fee to Church Officer  £60.00

Fee to Organist   £90.00

Total   £650.00

£50.00 deposit required within 2 weeks of booking

A deposit of £50 secures your booking and you pay a balance of £600 prior to your wedding.  Bookings are made through the Church Office.  The cost includes the use of the Church, provision of an Organist, and a Church Officer to cater for your requirements on the day.  There is no charge for the services of the Minister.

Can we book the Church and use our own Minister?

This can be arranged through the Church Office.  The cost remains the same as above.

Will someone help us with the planning for the service?

Yes. The Minister will arrange to meet you on two or three occasions to guide and assist you as you plan for your day. The Organist will help you choose your music and/or hymns.

Can we arrange for our child to be Christened during our marriage ceremony?

This would not be possible as Baptism/Blessing takes place during a Sunday morning service when the congregation is present.

Do we have to get married on a Saturday?

No. You can arrange for your wedding to take place on any day of the week.

What do we do to book our wedding?

Contact our Minister, Rev Dr Anne Logam on 0131 663 9550 and she will arrange to meet you and give you all the information you need. Alternatively contact the Church Administrator on 0131 451 5141.

We would like to renew our marriage vows. Is this possible?

Yes. The Minister would be pleased to meet you and discuss this.

If you would like further information about having your wedding at Currie Kirk then contact us on 0131 451 5141 or by email on currie_kirk@btconnect.com.
